It sounds like your credit history from a couple of years ago is still haunting you Beth and even though you may of nearly caught up it will still prevent you from obtaining credit from the mainstream lenders.

However there are lenders out there that should be able to help you if you are now back on track. Bad credit car finance lenders may charge a slightly higher APR but they are more understanding when it comes to your credit history.

The typical APR will be around 34% but you will still easily be able to afford to borrow £4000 with a monthly payment of £200, we will just need to work out what the shortest repayment term is available to you.

You may pay more interest this time around but having this credit will be really useful in repairing your credit profile as you will be proving to prospective lenders that you are now ok and they can trust you to repay the loan on time.
