Review: The New Vauxhall Zafira Tourer

April 23, 2015

Featuring updated styling – evolving from the original Zafira – the Tourer is a stylish and practical people carrier. While it may be smaller than some of its rivals, this Vauxhall still has plenty to offer. If you’re looking for a family friendly car, today’s Vauxhall Zafira Tourer review might just help sway your vote. And if you’re looking for Vauxhall finance, we can help there, too.

Design

The freshly styled Vauxhall Zafira Tourer looks more modern than its original counterpart (the Zafira). Visibility in the new Zafira Tourer rivals other MPVs, thanks to the slim windscreen pillars – which also add appeal to the Tourer’s dynamic design. Space in this seven seater is impressive, with plenty of room up front and in the second row – featuring flat folding seats. The third row consists of two compact seats – and while these are ideal for children, adults may be better suited to larger MPVs – such as the SEAT Alhambra.

Performance & Handling

When it comes to performance, there is an engine to suit everyone’s driving needs. The 1.8 litre petrol is the Vauxhall Zafira Tourer’s entry-level engine and while it’s the cheapest of the range, it doesn’t have quite enough power to pull this people carrier – the 1.4 litre turbocharged petrol engine is the better performer in a car of this class. For an all-round efficient performer, a diesel is the best choice of engine for fuel economy and power. If you’re looking to regularly take your Tourer on the motorway, opt for the 163bhp 2.0 litre CDTi. For low running costs, the 138bhp 1.6 litre CDTi diesel engine returns 68.9mpg and emits 109g/km of CO2, making road tax just £20 a year.

Features

Equipment across the range is generous, with entry-level ES models featuring cruise control, a DAB digital radio and air-con. Further up the range, the Exclusiv model comes with electric rear windows and front and rear parking sensors – while Tech Line models get Sat Nav and ambient interior lighting. If you want to pay for luxury, top-of-the-range models come with a panoramic roof and heated leather seats – although they’re probably not high on a list of priorities for people purchasing a family car.
