Review: Hyundai ix35

March 5, 2015

Hyundai are a brand known for being ahead of the curve. Their cars compete well in the European market and it’s easy to see why – great styling, reliability and value for money are all hallmarks. Today we’re bringing you a Hyundai ix35 review. The ix35 is an SUV that has all the features of a family car combined with the affordability and performance of a hatchback and plenty of great gadgets along the way. And of course, SUVs can be financed with our great car loan options, so you can get your hands on the ix35 while it’s still hot.

Design

The Hyundai ix35 has all the style the South Korean manufacturer can muster. It’s got a smooth, sleek side profile, as well as a sloping roof that tapers into a curved rear which looks more like a hot hatchback than a larger vehicle. Once you’re inside, the stylish looks become all about comfort and practically. A spacious interior is complemented by the interesting x-shaped control panel picked out in blue lighting. There’s plenty of room for passengers and the rear seats will comfortably accommodate three adults.

Performance

The front wheel drive version comes with a 1.6 petrol or 1.7 diesel engine and the 4×4 version packs a fairly powerful 2 litre diesel. The 114bhp 1.7 litre diesel is probably the best choice for family purposes, as it blends economy and performance – returning about 48mpg, which is useful for cutting down on trips to the petrol station between school runs.

The top end 2.0 CRDi 4WD will appeal to those looking for the best the Hyundai can offer – putting a bit of grunt behind an otherwise smooth and comfortable car. This version can get from 0-60 in about 10.2 seconds and is also the only four wheel drive model, ideal for those that want more power and control from their car.

The diesel versions are the ones to go for, as they perform far better than their petrol counterparts. The Hyundai ix35 has electrically assisted steering which helps when cornering. Coupled with the four wheel drive, it’s a car you can rely on in even the worst British weather.

Features

As with most SUV-type vehicles, comfort is key. The spacious interior is backed up by a generous suite of features. The premium ix35 has heated front and rear seats, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights and wipers, Bluetooth, ESP stability control and more. For an extra £800, the Media pack gets you a built-in touch-screen satnav and rear camera. There’s plenty room in the boot too, with an impressive 591 litres of storage space.

Hyundai ix35 finance

A car that’s only been around for a short while but making a big impact, the Hyundai ix35 price depends on which model you end up going for. The 1.7 version is around £19,000, whereas the premium 2.0 four wheel drive model and Media pack will set you back £25,000.
