Motorbike Mondays: Yamaha SR400 Review

January 26, 2015

There’s nothing like the adrenaline rush of our weekly Motorbike Monday review to pull you out of your Monday funk. In this week’s article we’ll be looking at one sexy street bike, the Yamaha SR400.

With its roots firmly planted in the musical instrument industry, Yamaha is a company with its fingers in many pies. However, their prowess isn’t to be sniffed at – with Yamaha Motors being responsible for some of the best road-bikes ever made.

When Yamaha released the original SR400, over 30 years ago, it was an instant hit with riders across the world – looking for a simple and agile motorcycle. The big question we’ll be answering today is, does the new Yamaha SR400 fill the boots of its predecessor? Find out in our brand new Yamaha SR400 review.

Design

The modern SR400 is a complete throwback to the 1970s classic, the bike just screams retro! While most modern-day takes of classic bikes and cars simply hint towards their retro roots, the SR400 is  almost a complete replica of the original timeless classic.

Features

It’s not just the SR400’s retro good looks that make it a must have in the motorbike world, with its 400cc air-cooled 4-stroke single cylinder engine – the bike packs some serious punch. On the outside, the SR400’s classic good looks are tuners dream – with a plethora of modifications available to give it some extra curb appeal.

Performance

The bike continues to impress in the performance department, with a top speed of 91 mph thanks to its 22 hp powerplant – holding its own against more powerful rivals. It’s clear that the Yamaha SR400 is all about looks, and while it never claims to break any speed records – it’s certainly capable of putting on a lively show.

Price

The SR400 has a starting price of just £5,199, which is more than a fair asking price to get your hands on this timeless classic! The wide choice of customisation available with the naughty Yamaha means that your investment is guaranteed to stand out from the crowd – bringing a smile to your face for years to come.

If this week’s edition of Motorbike Mondays has got you all nostalgic and raring to get your hands on the SR400 – don’t let a lack of funds stop you making your dream a reality.
