Motorbike Mondays: Honda CBF 125

February 23, 2015

Learners, newer riders and commuters who want to end their fuel woes are going to love this week’s edition of Motorbike Mondays. Why? Because we’ve got a Honda CBF 125 review just for you. The CBF is a cheap and cheerful bike that offers fantastic fuel economy and is an absolute joy to ride. Honda is renowned for quality and reliability and the CBF is no exception. Since its launch in 2009, the model has quickly become a best-selling motorcycle – and we’ve got all the details right here.

Design

Japanese giant Honda is known for sloping curves and aerodynamic, no-frills design – and the CBF 125 is absolutely gorgeous for the price. It’s got a sporty look and will appeal to learners and beginners that want a bike they can show off without breaking the bank. You’ve got a choice of colours, as the CBF is available in black, white or red. With sleek and slanting angles that give it a seriously streamlined look, you’ll turn heads whether you’re heading to work or just starting out.

Performance & Handling

Aside from it being a lovely looking motor with the largest permissible engine size for a learner, the Honda CBF 125 manages to appeal to qualified riders thanks to its generous fuel economy. Honda claims the CBF gets 134mpg, but you’ll most likely get somewhere around 87. The 124.7cc four-speed fuel injected engine means that the bike struggles to do much in the way of speed, topping out at around 65mph. This isn’t a problem, though, as the CBF was clearly designed as a bike for learners, new riders and people in need of a good run-around that won’t hammer the fuel. The handling is reliable and makes for a fun ride – but the twin rear shocks do cause the odd bit of discomfort during longer outings. All in all, the CBF 125 is a commuting machine that beats catching a bus any day of the week.

Features

As a motorcycle aimed at value and performance, the CBF is understandably light on features. For the price, you’re getting a stripped down machine that’s built around economy and reliability. In terms of actual features, the bike skips on a rev counter and has gear indications on the speedometer instead. It’s got a fuel gauge so you can marvel at all the miles you’re getting out of each trip to the petrol station.

Honda CBF 125 Finance

For beginners, learners and people who want plenty of miles to the gallon, the Honda CBF 125 is the perfect travel companion. The bike has risen in price since release thanks to its ever-growing popularity and, depending on the condition, can cost anywhere between £1600-2600.
