Harley Davidson have been producing bikes for over a hundred years and they’re still as popular as ever today, thanks to their powerful engines and iconic design. Design
There’s no mistaking the Forty-Eight as anything other than a Harley! As ever, Harley Davidson have gone that extra mile to revamp the Forty-Eight. It’s fair to say the new design packs a lot of punch, from the beefy front wheel to the honed 1200cc engine on display beneath the peanut fuel tank. Everything about the design screams simplicity, from the drag style handlebars and under-bar mirrors, to the sleek and clutter-free rear-guard design with old school stop-turn rear lights. Combining black powder-coating, chrome and the peanut fuel tank, shining with metal flaked paint, gives an awesome look that is classic with a modern twist.
Don’t let the minimalist look fool you, though, as Harley Davidson have applied their usual attention to detail throughout for the ultimate ride.
Performance & Handling
The 48 handles well like any Harley, and still gives you an incredibly powerful ride. However, they have taken the care to overhaul the braking system, installing larger brake rotors so you feel completely confident in your breaking ability – and all 48 models come with ABS as standard. The 48 still features a 1200cc Evolution air-cooled engine, which belts out a maximum torque of 96nm at 3500rpm – and they’ve teamed it up with a closed-loop twin exhaust system that improves the engine’s performance, which still gives you that Harley growl when you rev it up! The engine itself has been streamlined too, with aluminium heads and cylinders and rubber mounts, offering a lighter and smoother ride on the open road. And the balloon tyres with deep-cut groove give better grip and handling when you ride.

You want maximum comfort when you’re on your bike and the 48 offers an abundance. The low slung seat and rear suspension make for a super smooth and comfortable ride whatever your size or riding ability – and the newly designed hand controls provide ultimate handling and comfort, allowing you to keep your eyes on the road. Nowadays, all Harley bikes are keyless, so to fire it up you simply have to press a button – and a sophisticated fob activated security system means you can quickly arm or disarm your bike whenever you need to.
