Motorbike Mondays: Ducati Hypermotard

March 2, 2015

Today’s a treat for all you speed demons out there. This week’s edition of Motorbike Mondays sees us digging in to a Ducati Hypermotard review. The newest model of the Hypermotard was released in 2014 and is an 110bhp sport bike that comes from a brand renowned for fast engines and precision engineering. The dirt bike inspired Ducati packs in a powerful engine alongside advanced modes so you can get the most out of every ride.

Design

As far as fast motorbikes go, the Ducati Hypermotard sure looks the part. The bike is built with a dirt bike-inspired, minimalist look and this is obvious from the exposed innards and sharp contrast of the outer chassis. The Ducati has visibly higher ground clearance than most bikes, with a high and tapered tail and smooth lines that complement the no-frills style. Whether you’re riding through the city or blazing a trail through the countryside, the Hypermotard looks styled for action in any situation.

Performance and Handling

The Hypermotard looks great – and it performs even better. As a strictly road-going bike, the Ducati can absolutely tear it up. There have been a few generations of Hypermotards – but the latest and greatest 2014 version outputs 110bhp at 9,250 rpm, thanks to the Testastretta 11° engine. Not only is it fast, but the Testasretta engine is built to help eliminate unburnt fuel and provide optimal performance whilst limiting emissions. You get to be fast AND energy conscious!

Control is achieved through the three ‘modes’ the engine is designed with. There are high, medium and low torque modes, which can be used to tailor the horsepower to the situation. These modes can be customised for some real fine tuning.

The 2014 model has bigger brakes, brake discs, ABS and traction control and weighs in at just 175kg. Great in the city or for a blast around at the weekend, the Hypermotard is a bike that’s great for commutes and weekend rides.

Features

Aside from the customisable ride modes, the Ducati trims down the features. Much of the performance is achieved through the engine and the overall chassis design. The bike has a Ducati safety pack (ABS and DTC) and the rear-view mirrors have been redesigned for city use and blend in with the overall styling of the bike.

Ducati Hypermotard Finance

A motorbike should be a lot of things, but it definitely needs to be fun. The Hypermotard is just that – a fun, fast bike that you can take through town every day or speed through the country at the end of a tough week of work.
