The Peugeot Partner is a compact, practical and versatile city van aimed at small businesses. Produced by the PSA Peugeot Citroën alliance since 1996, it shares its platform with the Peugeot 306 which explains its car-like handling and ride. It is almost identical to Citroën Berlingo because they are both descendants of the Citroën 2CV van. Partner is a popular choice for camper conversions and it comes in a choice of the panel van, crew van for 5 passengers and flat cab bodies. When Peugeots new Partner van went on sale in the UK in 2008, the old model was renamed Partner Origin. The new Partner comes in two body lengths (L1 and slightly longer L2) and its buyers can choose between three engines and three payloads. The length of the vehicle ranges from 4.38 metres to 4.63 metres. L1 has maximum payload of 850 kg and load volume of 3.3m3, while L2 comes with the 750kg payload and 3.7 m3 load volume. The load area length can be extended from 1.8 metres to 3m when the new Multi-Flex passenger seat is folded down. The van can easily accommodate a Euro pallet as the width area between the wheel arches is 1.22 metres. The cargo area can be locked independently from the front doors for extra security and six anchor rings provided will enable you to securely fasten goods in transit.
Its 1.6 HDI turbo diesel engine is offered in 75PS and 92PS forms. Fuel consumption is 48.7 mpg and emissions can be as low as 123g/km. The van has a 5 speed manual gearbox, but a six speed automated transmission can be added as an option. Partner electric launched in September 2012 is fitted with a high performance electric motor with a power of 67bhp and its range is 105 miles. There is a normal way of charging the battery in 6 to 9 hours (up to 16A) and a fast charge (up to 125A) which lasts only 30 minutes and recharges 80% of the battery’s power.
All new Partners are covered by a two-year, unlimited mileage warranty and a one year breakdown cover. They are serviced every two years or 12,500 miles and their low insurance group makes them even more affordable.
Peugeot van can seat three passengers in the front, but be aware that there is very little legroom for the passenger in the middle.
