Top Marques 2014: the Motor Show For the Mega Rich

April 21, 2014

Easter weekend was celebrated a little differently in Monaco this year – in true supercar style, of course! Home to the legendary Monaco Grand Prix track and the Monte Carlo Casino, playground of the rich and famous, Monaco provides the perfect backdrop to the world’s premier luxury motor show. The Top Marques motor show defies the economic downturn – entertaining billionaires and the international elite with the world’s most expensive cars, yachts, luxury goods and gadgets.

Every year, thousands queue up at the golden gates into Monaco to get a sneak peak at this super exclusive event. Running from the 17th-20th April, over 200 luxury brands from around the world gather to show off their finest – lucky for us, it includes some of the most luxurious and extreme supercars we’ve ever seen! 2014’s Top Marques event marks the 11th anniversary of the motor show. Organisers received record numbers of attendees at this year’s show – coinciding with the already busy Easter weekend – making it the biggest and most successful Top Marques motor show yet.

International supercar manufacturers descended on Monaco on Thursday for the press preview of the 2014 Top Marques show. Showcased brands included Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, Pagani and Lamborghini, to name a few. This year’s show includes a classic car exhibit for the first time in its history – with automakers and collectors displaying seriously valuable vintage vehicles. Check out a gallery of all the cars from the Top Marques motor show here.

Middle-Eastern automaker W Motors are making their European debut with the Lycan Hypersport at this year’s Top Marques motor show. The futuristic supercar is powered by a 750 bhp Porsche flat-six engine, propelling this batmobile-esque car from 0-60 mph in just 2.8 seconds! W Motors claim that the Lycan Hypersport is capable of speeds up to 245 mph. Read more about the Lycan in our world’s most expensive cars blog post.
