Out of the 50+ German automotive brands that existed in the early 1900s, Audi is one of only three going strong today. In 2009, the brand with the four rings celebrated its centennial and is still renowned globally for engineering excellence and technological innovation. Their high-quality cars repeatedly hit benchmarks across the world – and today, we’re celebrating everything Audi by bringing together the best of the bunch!
- The Audi Q7 – a sizeable SUV with some very sexy extras
- The Audi A5 – an executive saloon with a designer difference
- The Audi TT – the sports car with bags of style
- The Audi R8 – a formidable supercar with a titanic top speed
- The Audi A1 – offering up city sized luxury
SUV: The Audi Q7
Our pick of the Audi SUV bunch is the mighty Audi Q7 – the biggest car in the Audi line-up! This full-size luxury crossover SUV is the brand’s first big 4×4 and can fit an epic 7 passengers – available in 5 stylish trim levels, with a stainless steel underbody to protect its chassis and improve aerodynamic efficiency. The Q7 also comes with Audi’s trademark alloy wheels and a 6.5 inch touchscreen complete with hands-free connectivity for you tech lovers. The entry level Q7 jumps from 0-62 mph in just 9.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 127 mph. Get your hands on the car from £43,895 – a bargain considering its high quality and features.
Saloon: The Audi A5
The Audi A5 Saloon is the shining jewel in Audi’s saloon crown and packs a mighty punch. The A5 is a stylish 4-door executive saloon with a compact coupe-like appearance available in 5 trim levels – noted for being a ‘designer’s car’ on account of its 4 frameless doors and a fashionably long tapering roofline. The A5 saloon packs an understated punch with its turbocharged entry-level 1.8 litre TFSI engine that’s responsible for the it reaching 60 mph in only 8.2 seconds. With a top speed of 155 mph and a starting bargain price of £26,780, you’re sure to get your money’s worth.
Sportscar: The Audi TT
The Audi TT is the cream of the Audi sportscar crop. The 2-door TT is nicknamed the ‘hairdresser’s car’ – available as a coupe or roadster, with either petrol or diesel engines. The petrol engine delivers way more torque and power, while the diesel engine has the ecological bonus of lower fuel emissions. You can expect to pay a little under £25k for the entry level roadster – but there’ll also be a new TT released in Autumn 2014. Audi hasn’t given us a price just yet, but you can expect the baseline model to also be around £25,000, making it one affordable feat of engineering.
Supercar: The Audi R8
We couldn’t bring together the best of Audi without the Audi R8. This is Audi’s most powerful car, with R8 Coupe, R8 Spyder or the R8 LMX models all available. Both the Coupe and the Spyder reach an astonishing top speed of 194 and 198 mph respectively, while the LMX’s formidable 5.2 litre V10 engine, helps this supercar to achieve 0-62 mph in a phenomenal 3.4 seconds. If you want to cruise around like a star in this supercar, you can expect to pay up to £123,485 and £126,385 for the Spyder and Coupe respectively – and a sky-high figure of £160,000 for the LMX.
Hatchback: The Audi A1
This stylish supermini is the best of Audi’s hatchbacks for many reasons. The Audi A1 won ‘Car of the Year’ in 2011 and is quirky, aggressive and stylish – so it’s no wonder that sales have gone through the roof! Alongside the A1’s fashionable interior, its ample boot space gives it a big advantage over its hatchback rivals who’ve fallen short on the storage front. Prices start from £14,115 with the entry level 1.2 TFSI model and range up to £24,905 for the range-topping model. Its perky 2.0 litre turbocharged engine manages 0-60 in just shy of 6 seconds and hits a top speed of 155 mph – as they say, good things come in small packages!
