Citroën is set to pull the curtain and reveal the new and improved Citroën C1 next week at the illustrious Geneva Motor Show – and this one’s a new beast indeed.
Citroën states “more design” has been added to the car, and we can’t argue with that – the aggressive look they have gave the front of the car is startling, the twin-slat grill, oval headlights and always-on daytime LEDs make for a rather tasty appearance. And did we mention it’s available in a massive range of personalisation options? One of the options we are particularly intrigued about is the choice to have either 2 or 4 doors and will both be fitted with a retractable cloth roof.
However, while the Citroën excels in the personalisation options, it’s somewhat lacking in how many options there are to personalise the internals. You have the choice of a 1.0-litre three-pot with 68bhp, or a 1.2-litre 3cyl with 82bhp – not a lot of choice, but they should both be sufficient.
The engine can accelerate from 0-62mph in 11 seconds, and a five-speed manual or five-speed clutchless box are both readily available.
The dimensions of the new C1 are exactly the same as the Peugeot 108, at 3.46m in length and 1.62m in width.
Also at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the Renault Twingo, Peugeot 108 and Toyota Aygo are all competing for the title of the smallest, quirkiest car to be shown. Honestly, we reckon the C1’s in with a great chance.
