Geneva Motor Show 2015

Petrol-heads far and wide gathered in Switzerland in March for the 2015 Geneva Motor Show – and the dazzling display of automobiles didn’t disappoint. Arguably a beacon for all other sports cars (and ahead of its launch later this year), the Audi R8 was among the most exciting motors making their debut this year. For those excited about the new Audi R8, 2015’s Geneva Motor Show was the perfect platform to find out everything they needed to know. Let’s find out what all the fuss is about…

Since Audi launched their first supercar in 2007, they have continued to impress – and the new R8 is no exception. The new Audi R8 will be available in two versions from May, the V10 and the V10 Plus –  with both models bringing exciting extras to the table. Both versions come in a range of colours, with ten choices available. While 19 inch wheels are the standard option, 20 inch alloys are a new option from Audi for the 2015 R8. Noticeably lower and wider than its predecessor, the new Audi R8’s length remains the same. Overall, there is no denying that the German giant’s latest R8 is a stunner in the looks department.

The racing car feeling continues into the cabin, with a multifunction steering wheel and an all-new virtual cockpit replacing standard dials. This means that all important functions can now be controlled from the steering wheel – and for those who really want to feel like they’re racing around the track, the driver information system can even record lap times! To start-up the R8, all you need to do is touch the large red racing style ‘start’ button – firing the Audi’s 10-cylinder power plant into action. With everything you need accessible at the touch of a steering wheel button – the dash is clean and minimalist, in keeping with the new R8’s futuristic lines.

The new Audi R8’s quattro four wheel drive system is guaranteed to keep both track fans and safety conscious drivers happy – providing plenty of grip and improving performance on wet and slippery roads. The V10 plus will storm from 0-60 mph in an impressive 3.4 seconds, with the V10 version falling just 0.1 of a second behind.
