Mazda 6 Review

June 18, 2015

Thursday is upon us again and, with one more day until the weekend, we’re helping you pass the time with another review from the Car Loan Warehouse – and catching our eye today is the Mazda6. Despite being a family-friendly car, the Mazda6 comes with flexible engines and a thrilling driving experience to boot. This Mazda6 saloon comes with bags of kit and plenty of practicality – and we can’t wait to get up close and personal in today’s Mazda6 review. Let’s dive in.

Design

The Mazda6 manages to combine stylish looks with bags of practicality, making it a strong contender in its class. Climb inside the cabin and, as you’d expect from this big family car, there’s plenty of space. The rear of the car can comfortably accommodate 3 adults and space in the front is generous, too. The Mazda6’s boot space is a modest 483 litres, but this expands to an impressive 1,632 litres of luggage capacity when the rear seats are folded flat.

Performance & Handling

When it comes to performance, the Mazda6 has a range of powerful and efficient engines. The 2.2 litre diesel comes with two outputs – in 148bhp form, it accelerates from 0-62mph in 9 seconds, while the 173bhp version takes just 7.9 seconds. The 148bhp is the cleanest engine in the lineup – emitting 104g/km of CO2 and making annual road tax just £20. If you’d prefer a petrol powered engine, the 2.0 litre comes with 143bhp or 163bhp outputs – and despite its impressive performance and fuel economy of 62.8mpg, the latter emits just 119g/km of CO2. Thanks to its i-Stop technology, the Mazda6 cuts the engine whenever you’re sitting in traffic, helping you avoid wasting fuel. So if you want to steer clear of big road tax bills, the Mazda6 might just be the model for you.

Features

All models in the Mazda6 lineup come with a 7 inch colour screen as standard and, beyond that, the cars are generously packed with kit. The entry-level SE trim comes with Bluetooth and USB connection, keyless start and cruise control. Moving through the range, the SE-L model adds front and rear parking sensors, climate control and rain sensing wipers – while the SE-L Nav gets a TomTom Sat Nav system. If you’re still looking for a touch more tech, topping the Mazda6 range is the Sport model which is positively packed with extras – including electrically adjustable heated leather seats, 19 inch alloy wheels and bi-xenon headlights.
