Lucid Reveal Their First Ever Car and it’s ELECTRIC!

December 17, 2016

LucidAmerican electric car company,Lucid, have revealed their first ever car. The luxury Lucid Air Sudan has a staggering 1,000hp and a range of 300 miles!

The company formally known as Atieva believes they have made three cars in one. A sport car packed full of performance matching internal combustion engine vehicles, a spacious luxury car and a urban commuter readily equipped for autonomous driving.

The Lucid team is extensive, including former Mazda designer Derek Jenkins, Chief Engineer of the Tesla Model S Peter Rawlinson and an aerodynamicist from the Red Bull Racing Formula One team.

Features  of the Lucid Air Sudan

The sleek horizontal lighting arrangements makes the Air look like it has eye-slits for headlights. With micro lens technology each light has 4,870 lenses to create the prefect field of view.

Even prepared for autonomous driving, the new Sudan is fitted with 6 radar sensors, 4 lidar units, 3 front cameras, a driver monitoring camera and 3 active surround view cameras. Most of these are on the front of the vehicle, however a number of autonomous sensors can be located at the rear.

Whether you want to carry 3 or 4 passengers, there is a choice. Two rear bucket seats similar to that of a business class airline or a rear bench. Both include entertainment, noise cancellation and a 29 speaker audio system.

Powered by electric motors, one on each axle, the Air has not yet released a top speed. Although we do know that is does 0-60mph in a breath-taking 2.5 seconds!

Lucid haven’t given a time-frame for the Air’s release, however the expected cost will come to approximately $160,000 fully equipped.  Many are anticipating the cars to be released for production in 2018 as Lucid are already taking deposits.
