The KTM 1290 Super Duke R boasts a 1301cc, 180bhp V-twin engine. Its strong, slick carbon fibre bodywork is painted orange and black for positively animalistic styling. The strongest of KTM’s motorcycles, it’s fast but manageable – with exceptional kit, 10% lighter pistons than its predecessor, and a beastly 2000rpm of torque.
The KTM 1290 Super Duke R can peak at speeds of over 150mph, with prices of around £13,999 – a slightly heftier price tag than alternatives, but a fair price to pay for its exceptional style and functionality.
System features
The Super Duke R features an on-board computer menu with three driving modes: sport, rain and street. With traction control, lean sensitive control begins immediately meaning smoother riding. Motorcycle traction control in the three modes lets the rider focus on the road for a thrilling ride that doesn’t sacrifice on safety. Better yet, there’s anti-wheelie mode, ABS and Supermoto. Unlike the original Super Duke, manufactured in 2005, the Super Duke R has a 40% larger engine despite being similar in size. The bike’s torque, ranging from 2000 rpm to its 9800rpm limit, is impressive to say the least – as are its throttle response, suspension and economical value (generally requiring servicing every 15,000km).
Other notable features include Brembo monobloc brakes, rustproof stainless steel exhaust, a state of the art dashboard with LCD displays and super-lightweight wheels.
