Kia have launched a new GT version of their popular C’eed model. This is Kia’s first foray into the GT market – and so far, so good! The 5 door C’eed GT is the big sister of the smaller and cheaper 3 door Pro_C’eed GT. With a new turbocharged engine and numerous performance enhancements, the C’eed GT is set to scorch!
The C’eed GT is available in two versions, the GT and the slightly more expensive GT Tech. Equipment and specs across both models are impressive – it’s clear that value for money has been a priority for Kia. Standard equipment includes automatic headlights, cruise control, air conditioning and Recaro racing seats. The GT Tech model boasts extra features including sat-nav, heated seats, xenon headlights and a reverse parking camera.
The C’eed GT has received some styling upgrades over the original model. Wider, lower bumpers give the GT more of a racing stance. The streamlined styling has been accented by a bigger, more aggressive front grille and a twin sports exhaust at the rear. Sporty red brake calipers also add a nice touch to the gorgeous 18 inch grey alloy wheels.
Kia have aimed the C’eed GT at the grown up speed enthusiast rather than the boy racer crowd. Practicality is still the main priority for the C’eed GT, with performance being a more subtle addition. Performance figures are impressive but not wild. The 1.6L turbocharged engine puts out a capable 201 bhp, which will swiftly take the GT from 0-62 in a 7.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 143 mph. Econonmy figures are decent for a performance car, with the GT returning just over 38 mpg combined.
Handling has been improved for the GT, with firmer suspension and more powerful brakes. The C’eed GT is agile, composed and nimble to drive. Performing well around the city and on the motorway, the 1.6L engine is more than capable. Handling can get a little interesting on country roads when the GT is pushed past its limits. It’s clear the C’eed GT isn’t a racing car – what it is, though, is a fast and practical hatchback. Something which the GT does very well indeed.
The C’eed GT is priced from £20,495 and the GT Tech from £22,495. Both are available now from Kia dealerships. Use our finance calculator to see how much you could save on your next car.
