Fiat tuning house Abarth have unveiled a new stripped-down racing version of the Fiat 500. Named the Abarth 695 Biposto, this hot new hatch focuses on Fiat’s racing heritage.

This anniversary special edition comes 50 years after the original 1964 Fiat Abarth 695. Available later this year, this will be Fiat’s most extreme 500 yet. Taking the standard Fiat 500, Abarth have added aggressive styling, stripped out the interior and tuned its performance to the max.
Developed for the track driving enthusiast, this stunning hatch won’t disappoint. Initial performance figures are extremely impressive. Abarth have squeezed 187 bhp out of the 1.4L turbocharged petrol engine. That power, combined with a new lightweight chassis, means the Abarth 695 Biposto will do 0-62 in an eye-watering 5.9 seconds!
To cope with all this extra power, Abarth has added some upgrades to the chassis, including racing suspension, brakes that could stop a runaway train and the essential grippy track tyres. Previous Abarth models have handled like a dream, proving themselves to be the ultimate track day car. Eagerly anticipated test drives of the new 695 Biposto will tell if it preserves the Abarth legacy.
Fiat hit the nail on the head when they designed the new 500 – its success has been phenomenal and it is easily considered one of the most attractive superminis around. Abarth have built on its already attractive exterior by adding flared wheel arches and chunky front and rear spoilers.
The interior leaves a little to be desired. The original Fiat 500 interior has been completely stripped and replaced with a titanium roll cage, carbon fibre dashboard and racing bucket seats.
