I need help and advice please. My credit rating is not very good but I really need car finance to get a car for commuting to work. My last car has just given up and is not worth repairing and there is no public transport for where I work as it is out in the sticks. I know my bad credit history is not going to help with obtaining car finance as I have had a few problems in the past but I am on track to sorting things out now. Generally my bad credit is related to when I was ill a few years ago and I got behind on my mortgage payments and credit card. I have arrangements in place to catch up on my debt and am almost caught up but because of my bad credit I am finding it hard to get my bank to lend me anything even though I only need about £5000. I had a promotion at work recently and my income is about £1800 a month after tax now so I could easily afford £200 a month to make the repayments. Having had a look at the Autotrader website I have found a few sensible Ford Fiesta diesels which look good for about £5k with reasonably low mileage and would be perfect for me. Can you contact me ASAP and let me know if you can help with bad credit car finance and how much the monthly payments and APR would be if I spread the repayments over 4 or 5 years? Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Robert and thanks for your email.

Sounds like you have had a tough few years but good to hear that things are on the up. You have come to the right place for help and advice with obtaining car finance with bad credit history.

We work very closely with a panel of lenders who understand that people’s circumstances do change and that just because you were unlucky with your illness a few years ago this doesn’t mean that you should not be considered credit worthy in the future.

You are not asking to borrow £20,000 for a sports car so I don’t think that there should be too much trouble in getting you £5000 for a Ford Fiesta or similar. If you can prove your income with a payslip or bank statements and you weren’t recently made bankrupt then we should be fine.

Please feel free to phone me on 0800 066 2888 so I can take your application or you can make it online and I’ll keep an eye out for it.
