1982: the One of a Kind BMW

January 3, 2017

BMWOne of a kind- the unique BMW 635 Csi prototype was the result of three companies working together; the Observer Magazine, MGA and BMW (GB) ltd.  During its development it was known as the ‘Special Project M3’.

Tucked away for many years, the BMW has only completed 16,000 miles in its lifetime! In its early days, it was showcased at the 1983 NEC Motor Show and in the Observer Magazine, with BMW wanting to present the future of motoring.

The BMW 635 was developed to showcase the skill and innovation of British designing and engineering. With the combination of a glass retractable panoramic roof, electric memory seats and unique 16in alloy wheels, it certainly achieved this!

It has been 35 years since this one of a kind car was shown to the world, yet every single piece of paperwork has been kept; detailing the cars development throughout the build with design drawings and photographs, including at the NEC Motor Show. The BMW even comes with the original document pack, an abundance of MOT certificates along with many maintenance invoices.

Back in 1982, only 3 convertibles were readily available, so this BMW, although a prototype turned many heads.

Take a look; it’s on sale now at 4 Star Classics!
